Weald TTC was established in 2001 evolving from Benenden TTC which was established in 1994 by Diccon Gray with help from Jeremy Harrington. Regularly assisted by Martin Chinn and John Standing, Ken Muhr has run coaching at Weald TTC for over 15 years. In that time, we have attracted a huge number of juniors from the local schools and surrounding area, as well as senior players both local and from further afield to take advantage of the quality sessions the Club has offered. Among them grew some excellent players, such as Lewis Gray, Yolanda King, Lisa Standen, Daniel Lawrence, Luke Savill, Jack and Josh Bennett, James Smith and Helshan Weerasinghe. Many of these players have progressed to reach international standard. In 2006, the club venue became the the South East Performance Centre and this continues to successfully develop the potential of the top South East young players.
Weald TTC is competing in the West Kent Table Tennis Association Premier Division. Check out the WKTTA Website for more information. We have a team of young players in the National Cadet League and we are also affiliated to the Kent County Table Tennis Association.
As a Table Tennis England Premier Club, we expect all players, guardians and coaches to comply with their codes of conduct:
Ken has been coaching Table Tennis for 45 years and has been coaching at Weald since 2000. He is an ETTA Level 4 coach and has coached England internationals such as Yolanda King, Helshan Weerasinghe and Daniel Lawrence. He has been a regional coach, is a member of the National Coaching Committee and is the TTE regional coaching chairman as well as being a member TTE National Coaching Focus Group. A former top junior player, he enjoys working with players of all standards. When not playing Table Tennis, he enjoys listening to jazz music. Ken can be contacted on email@example.com.
Martin Chinn is an ETTA Level 2 coach and has been coaching since 2002. Martin began playing at age 33 and always found it difficult to get advice to help him improve which motivated him to become a coach himself. For approximately 20 years, he successfully combined Table Tennis and long-distance running. Martin can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org.
John is an ETTA Level 3 Coach and has been coaching for over 40 years. He has been a personal coach for some top players such as Helshan Weersinghe and Yolanda King (National Champions) and Lewis Gray (Top 15 England Senior). John has been a Table Tennis tutor for 10 years and is himself a former Top 20 England Ranked player. He is a 4 time county champion for both Kent and Buckinghamshire. He is available for individual and group coaching by appointment. John can be contacted on email@example.com.
Toby is an ETTA Level 1 coach and came to Table Tennis as a total beginner in 2013. He is now in his second season playing for Tonbridge Teen and Twenty in the West Kent Table Tennis Association 1st Division. He won the Weald Most Improved Player award at the end of the 2014-2015 season. When not playing Table Tennis, Toby can often be found on a motorcycle or developing software. He is also the Webmaster for this website. Toby can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org.
